New courses will take place at the ARTlounge, Bachstr. 29 in Schaffhausen. The courses will be hold in english and german.

Course INTUITIVE DRAWING

Most of the exercises relate to the senses of touch, taste, smell and hearing, often neglected while drawing. How can theses senses enter to a drawing? This we will explore. There are no right or false lines – only those that are created. This course arouses curiosity and will lead you to discover the origins of sensations. We will learn to comprehend form and proportion playfully with the hand learning to trust the eye – putting Thomas Lüchinger’s theory into practice.

5 x 3 hours. Tuesday mornings 9:00am – 12:00 pm

Course fees: CHF 290.—incl. material and one drink.

PAINT YOUR OWN PICTURE UNDER PROFESSIONAL GUIDANCE IN ACRYLIC OR OIL

Has fear of not knowing how to proceed, prevented you from a long term dream of painting a picture? On Monday evenings you will be given the opportunity to paint what you have always wanted to under professional guidance.

Monday evenings 19 – 21 h. 14 + 21 May, 18 + 25 June, 20 + 27 August 2012

Course fees: CHF 55.— per evening

MIXING COLOURS IN THEORY AND PRACTICE

Colour comes to life in combination with background, environment, cool or warm, light or dark tones. Before we start mixing, we first study the various effects of one and the same colour tone. the course is designed to raise colour awareness as well as providing the basic knowledge for continuing in painting irrespective of what direction you choose in the future. The course instructor is a fine arts colour specialist.

STARTING YOUR OWN SKETCHBOOK

Training your observation skills with 2 to 5 minute drawings. Learning to “blindly” capture people, objects etc. and to increase your sketching skills – non-judgmentally. Confidence in one’s own power of perception of our various senses is strenghtened through working at it. We will be experimenting with pencil, ball point pen as well as acrylic, crayon, charcoal, ink etc; also working in series (fanfold-book)

DRAWING WITH ALL THE SENSES

Closing the eyes: looking inside means to divert the gaze from being fixed on everyday perception. Beliefs, ideas and knowledge are set aside for a while in favour of new experiences. We explore a number of Thomas Lüchinger exercises freeing creative energy of rational thinking. It is not necessary to know in what direction the drawing leads us. In playfully working with lines, forms, contrasts, we are opening ourselves to the unknown.
